A friend came and asked me if it were possible to really change. He had been trying to overcome a habit, a sin in his life that he just couldn’t seem to overcome. He was so discouraged, and now thought it would be impossible to change. He began to resign to the fact that this was just something he would always deal with.

I told him that I know that sin can sometimes feel like chains that can’t be broken. Sin can sometimes make us believe that we won’t be able to function in life without it, but I do want to remind you of something. I want you to remember that Jesus rose from the dead. You see that’s not supposed to happen, that’s impossible, but He did it. He also raised the dead back to life, that’s impossible too you’re not supposed to be able to do that either, but He did. In fact, there’s a whole host of things Jesus did that no one should be able to do, but He did. I tell you that because the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives within you. (Romans 8:11)

On your own you can’t change, but through God’s strength there is no sin you can’t overcome. (1 Cor. 10:13) Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t change. “If anyone is in Christ He is a new creation, old things are passed away, and all things are become new.” (2 Cor. 5:17) Don’t ever give up, give God a chance to fight for you and empower you to become the man/woman of God that you were created to be. May God do the impossible in you.
